I can't believe it is already February of this new year, wow! Last year just flew by and now this one seems to be trying to do the same thing. I hope I have time to get a few things done.
Since it has been a while since my last update I have a lot I could discuss or tell you about however I think there are a few things that I will highlight instead.
First, I am so happy not to have to do the books for a company anymore, what a relief! I didn't realize what a pain that was, thank you husband for taking care of that! A weight has deffinately been lifted.
Second, the schools are doing something new here this year, they are getting volunteers to do book clubs with the kids, I just love reading and so does Caid so I am so excited to be one of those volunteers. Our new book club has kids from her class in it and we are going to start by reading a book called 'The Great Good Thing' by Roderick Townley. This book is a very imaginative fiction piece that I hope the kids will enjoy reading and hopefully it will get their creative minds up and running too. If you have a child I reccomend this book you can check it out at Amazon.com. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0689853289/ref=ord_cart_shr?%5Fencoding=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&v=glance
Next, I had a great birthday get together with my friends Brooke & Brian and the kids, my mom and her man, my sister in law and her kids, my mother in law and my little brother stopped in for a few. Thank you to everyone who showed up!
The day after my party I was sick, probably the flu because it took a full 2 days to get over and today is the first time I have felt good since. I hope no one else gets it.
Finally, I was just barely able to get Caid into take a test the ACT does for younger students called the Explore test, I will be interested to see what she thinks of it and what it says about her. I just really wish the school district here did a better job of communicating about these things with parents, well, it is new to them so maybe next year. I think we can all use every edge we can get for our children to get ahead in life so that when they are ready for college they are not just ready they are ahead of the game with knowlege and with their resume and qualifications. I think it is better to give yourself every opportunity for a thing than narrow your options by not trying for it all.
Well, although that is pretty cut and dried, not a very interesting read I am sure, that is what is going on. When I get a story I will write it for you, probably later this week. I start book club tomorrow so I am sure there will be a story in that!
Smile Everyone!
It has been a busy month.... Don't forget your running accomplishments!
ReplyDeleteSo Caid did get in for the Explore? Did she take it yet?
